Does gargling salt water (when you have sore throat) have anything to do with the Thyroid and Iodine(in salt)?
Okay, I just had a random thought. I'm doing a project on Iodine and found out that Iodine can produce triiodothyronine (3 molecules of Iodine added to the thyroid) and thyroxine (4 molecules of Iodine added to the thyroid) (Both two key hormones produced by the thyroid gland). Well since Salt contains Iodine, would gargling salt water be adding Iodine to the thyroid, producing triiodothyronine and thyroxine. I don't think it does, but it seemed like a crazy thought... :) Sorry for being confusing :D
