Please Help!! I Need Some Advice Fast!!?

I met a guy and he's really cute, smart and nice. He seems great and I was pretty infatuated with him. But for some reason I keep going back and forth liking him. I'm not sure if I do or not. Im not sure what to do, I feel like I don't like him at the moment but I'm afraid if I gave him up I'd regret it. Im thinking i back away from him whenever I feel he smothers me or I feel like he cares about me. Any help?
